Thames 10K - Beale Park, Whitchurch - 31st July 2013

September 17, 2013

An excellent event organised by the lovely team at Race Solutions http://www.racesolutions.co.uk/ was attended by all types of runners, from the casual to the elite.  This event not only is a beautiful setting with a long the scenic route through fields and woods, it was accompanied by some of the most hilarious commentary heard for some time!!  The weather was superb, a summers evening with that lovely smell of late summer hay that all the kids accompanying their parents were making the most...

Samaritans 5/10K race - Wellington College, Crowthorne - 30 June

July 22, 2013

Well, this picture taken at 09:00 is not reflective of how hot it got post 10:00.  A scorching day, over 320 runners (entries were up by over 50% this year) entered this 5k and 10k event.  They ran through temperatures into their late 20's to reach their end goal so not many PB's that day but who could expect them in these conditions.

A great event, wonderfully organised by Jackie and Mark and the Samaritans supporters of the Bracknell, Wokingham & Ascot branch, I met some wonderful people who...

Highdown Dash - 2/6k Race in Emmer Green - 16 June

July 22, 2013

A great family morning out at Highdown School, with an unprecedented number of youngsters entering and running alongside their often much slower parents.  This was a local and fun event that saw the fastest man come in at a stunning 22:39.

There's a great gallery to browse through showing the antics of the day (even caught one of me unawares!) and the results can be viewed at http://www.highdowndash.co.uk/Highdown-Dash/?page_id=6 with images available from http://www.highdowndash.co.uk/Highdow...

Woodley Saints Football Tournament - 22/23 June

July 22, 2013

Superb organisation, this event was well attended by all clubs.  Visited lots by players, referees and Mum's and Dad's alike, the weather looked brooding for a few odd hours but rain held off and kept play.

Results can be found at http://www.woodleysaints.com/tournament/tournament-results.html and thanks for those who came up and received seated acupressure massage or had their legs and lower backs done.

Big thanks for the donations received for massage which were given to the club as a thank y...

Endure 24 - Endurance Race - Wasing Park, Aldermaston - 8/9 June

July 22, 2013

What a superb endurance event this was, not only set in amazing countryside but blazing hot weather (dare I say rather too hot for running). The excitement was palpable, as the first of the runners set off for this 24 hour endurance event midday on Saturday, looking fresh and raring to go.  Runners competed as solo’s (supported by a partner who provided food and drink assistance off course) pairs, teams of 3-5 people and teams of 6-8 people.

The course was hilly and run over a 5 mile circ...

Woodley Hammers Football Tournament 1/2 June 2013

June 4, 2013

Smoothing Knots were
supporting Woodley Hammers Football Club on Sunday 2nd June 2013.  Great weather made this event an extra pleasure to attend, with the stand being attended by various stressed Mum's, who took advantage of the seated acupressure massages to have neck back & shoulder tension released.  We had a few players with chronic & acute injuries up on the massage table and I was able to provide advice on stretching & injury rehabilitation.

Thanks to the Woodley Hammers committee who ...

Mizuno Reading Half Marathon 17th March 2013

Well what a filthy day it was, horizontal rain, a fair wind & so cold.

I have the utmost respect for everyone that took part & hope you all managed to get home quickly & have a well deserved hot shower. Despite conditions, so many competitors I spoke to achieved new PB's so congratulations to all that ran the Mizuno Reading Half Marathon
